The Pattara Wedding | Wheaton, IL

The night Kathryn and Ed shared their first kiss, Kathryn knew she was going to marry him. Ed must have had the same thought because, less than a year later, he proposed! Kathryn was certain Ed was going to propose to her on her birthday, but she was in for a surprise. The Friday before her birthday, Kathryn and her friend were out getting dinner and Ed appeared! He tapped her on the shoulder, and said "I love you. Will you marry me?" Kathryn screamed with excitement and surprise, the whole restaurant cheered, and they toasted champagne to celebrate their future together.

Since Kathryn and Ed met on a blind date at Morton's The Steakhouse, back in January 2018, they thought it would only be fitting to revisit the place where it all began on their wedding day. The manager at Morton's The Steakhouse opened the restaurant early for us so we were able to take photographs at the exact table where they found love.

No wedding would be a success without a little rain, but thankfully the storm passes right before the ceremony began, and we were able to enjoy taking photographs outside at the Arrowhead Golf Club in Wheaton, Illinois.

Kathryn and Ed's cocktail hour was full of creative goodies. Their guests enjoyed a signature Lucky Mimosa cocktail, signed the wooden bench guest book (which the Bride's father made), and stamped themselves with custom Kathryn and Ed stick-on tattoos!

Beautiful blue, purple and orange flowers decorated the wedding cake and surrounding tables. And in lieu of wedding favors, the Pattara's made a donation to the Lymphoma Cancer Society. Since cancer had touched both sides of the family, making the donation to research was very important to the newlyweds. Ed, the groom, was diagnosed and went on to defeat Hodgkins Lymphoma as a boy, and Ronald, the bride's father, is currently battling Follicular Lymphoma. Both Ed and Ronald shared a dance with Kathryn on her special day, and it was beautiful to witness. Ed and Kathryn took dance lessons for their first dance, and the whole wedding gathered around them to watched their choreographed routine.

The last surprise of the evening took place when Ed was blindfolded before doing the garter toss. He had a good laugh when his best man took the place of his new bride. Ed, Kathryn and their guests danced the rest of the night away.

Congratulations to Mr. & Mrs. Pattara!
